Features

The booking engine is where inventory becomes bookable. Properties list their inventory in Portal and affiliates turn it into shareable content there too — then the booking engine serves that content to travelers in the right language, currency and branding, and takes the booking.

It is exposed as a website at https://book.wink.travel, and the same functionality is available to integrators through our Web Components, WordPress plugin and APIs.

There is one booking engine, and it lives at https://book.wink.travel.

Open the booking engine

It adapts to whoever is selling through it. An affiliate carrying many properties gets a home page built for browsing and comparing. A single hotel gets a page that leads straight into its own inventory. A property management company gets the properties they represent. None of that is a separate site or a separate product — it is your customization telling the same engine how to present itself.

  • Search by destination. Look up cities, islands, countries or a specific property, restaurant, spa, meeting room, activity, attraction or place.
  • Browse ranked collections. Explore inventory sorted by member rates, price, popularity, eco rating, experiences, perks, loyalty or add-ons — globally or scoped to a city, island or country.
  • Filter results by name, radius, lifestyle, star rating and direct-only inventory.
  • Set an itinerary — check-in and check-out dates, number of adults, children with their ages, several rooms at once, and a promotional code. Prices in the grid update live.

Read more in Search.

Every property gets its own landing page with a photo gallery, localized description, map, amenities, star rating and guest scores, our Greendex eco rating, guest reviews, and the property’s restaurants, spas, activities, attractions, meeting rooms and travel advisories.

Read more in Property Detail.

  • Pick rooms and rate plans, with refundable and non-refundable options clearly marked.
  • See the perks attached to each rate — both guaranteed and upon-availability.
  • Add multiple rooms to one booking and adjust quantities.
  • Add hotel add-ons and packages, including timed add-ons scheduled to a date and time.
  • Watch the total update live, with a per-room price breakdown and the savings versus public rates.
  • Check out and pay through an embedded secure payment widget. Card, wallet and local payment methods are offered based on what the property’s payment account supports.

Read more in Checkout.

  • See the confirmation with a booking code, immediately and by email.
  • Open a booking without logging in — an emailed booking link works for guests who never created an account.
  • Review the full booking: cancellation policy, payment status, what was paid and how, extra charges and the property’s contact details.
  • Take action: copy the booking code, share the booking, add it to a calendar, print it, download a receipt, cancel with a reason, or request a refund outside the cancellation window.
  • Write a review once the stay qualifies.
  • See trips grouped when a single trip produced several bookings.

Read more in Bookings and Booking Confirmation.

  • Switch language and currency at any time from the header — 40+ languages and 160+ currencies.
  • Sign in once through Wink’s single sign-on. Returning from sign-in drops the traveler back exactly where they were, mid-checkout included.
  • Keep a travel profile — locale preferences, emergency contacts, allergies, pets, accessibility needs, and hotel, room, food and personal preferences — and choose whether to share it with the properties booked.
  • Share a property by link or QR code to any of fifteen social and messaging networks.

Most of the time there is no need to link to the booking engine directly. Everything you build in Portal — links, cards, grids and maps — along with anything you publish on WinkLinks, already carries your client ID, your affiliate ID and your branding, and lands the traveler on the right page with the right itinerary already filled in.

What you shareWhere it lands the traveler
Shareable linkA short trvl.as URL that expands into a branded property landing page, with your itinerary, currency and language pre-applied. Works as a post on Facebook, X, WhatsApp or anywhere else a URL goes.
CardA single bookable supplier or inventory item — a hotel, room type, spa, restaurant. Book opens the booking flow; Best deal and Hotel details route into the property page.
GridA paginated set of cards built from a curated list, a saved search or a live ranked search. Each card books the same way.
MapAn interactive map whose markers open into bookable cards.
WinkLinksYour link-in-bio page hosting any mix of the above. Instagram to booked in two clicks.
Book Now buttonYour own site’s button, pointed at your auto-generated property link with dates, room configuration, language, currency and promo code as URL parameters.
Web ComponentsEmbed cards, grids, maps, search and the itinerary picker directly in your pages. Booking either forwards to the engine or opens it in a modal, your choice.
WordPress pluginThe same components as WordPress shortcodes, for Gutenberg, Elementor, Avada and WPBakery.
APIsDirect integration for remote travel agent systems and channel managers.

Whichever route a traveler takes, the affiliate who sent them is recorded for attribution — and that attribution persists for 180 days, so a booking made on a later visit still credits the affiliate who made the introduction.

The booking engine is built to disappear behind your brand.

At the lightest level, a customization restyles the engine so it reads as yours: your name, your logo, your colors, your typography. Travelers still arrive on book.wink.travel.

At the deepest level, an affiliate can run the booking engine on their own domain name. Point your domain at the booking engine and it resolves your customization automatically from the hostname — no client ID or configuration ID in the URL, no Wink domain in the address bar. Travelers see book.yourbrand.com from search through to confirmation.

Everything below is set per customization, and you can keep several — one per market, per campaign, or per property.

Identity

  • Display name and tagline appended to page titles.
  • Logo, including a separate logo for booking e-mails.

Look and feel

  • An eleven-token color palette: primary, secondary, success, danger, warning, info, light, dark, body, muted and white.
  • Typography, chosen from twenty curated typefaces.
  • Page layout — informational or transactional — which reshapes the home page, header and property pages.
  • Card layout — vertical grid or horizontal list.
  • Toggles for the search bar, ranking badges and unavailable-property cards.

Theming

Defaults travelers land on

  • Default language and currency.
  • A pre-seeded itinerary — either fixed dates or a rolling window such as “30 days out, 2 nights”.
  • Default room configuration and promotional codes.
  • A default city for the destination picker.

Measurement and integration

  • Your own Google Analytics 4 measurement IDs, Google Tag Manager containers and tracking pixels, running alongside Wink’s.
  • Your own Google Maps API key.
  • Control over whether booking notification e-mails go to the property, the booker and the channel manager.
  • Whether an embedded component’s Book button forwards to the booking engine or opens it in a modal.

If you do want to link to the booking engine by hand, add your client ID and customization ID to the URL as parameters. Both live in Portal, on whichever account you are working with — whether that account is a property, a management company or an affiliate.

  1. Select the account you want to work with from Accounts.
  2. Click on Actions from the bottom of the account card and choose to Manage account.
  3. Click the Applications tab on the following page.
  4. Copy the Client ID from the application you want to use and paste it on the URL as a request parameter. Example: ?client-id=MY_CLIENT_ID

See Applications for more on creating and managing applications.

  2. Click on Actions from the bottom of the account card and choose to Manage account.
  3. Click the Customizations tab on the following page.
  4. Copy the Customization ID from the customization you want to use and paste it on the URL as a request parameter. Example: ?configuration-id=MY_CUSTOMIZATION_ID

See Customization for the full list of what a customization controls.

To link to the home page, you end up with a URL that looks something like this:

https://book.wink.travel?client-id=MY_CLIENT_ID&configuration-id=MY_CUSTOMIZATION_ID

The home page carries your branding and shows whichever inventory your account represents — your own property, the properties you manage, or your full affiliate catalog.

To send a traveler straight to a specific property, link to its landing page instead:

https://book.wink.travel/hotel/hotel-x?client-id=MY_CLIENT_ID&configuration-id=MY_CUSTOMIZATION_ID

Every property on Wink gets their own unique landing page. All external links direct travelers to one of these landing pages.

The landing page contains all the information a traveler needs to make an educated choice about whether to stay at this property.
