Rate Limits

When Wink publishes content to your connected social media accounts, it respects the rate limits imposed by each platform. This ensures your accounts stay in good standing and your content is delivered reliably.

Each social platform enforces its own publishing limits. Wink tracks usage in real time and automatically throttles publishing when you approach these limits.

PlatformHourly limitNotes
Instagram180 requestsIncludes posts, stories, and API interactions.
Facebook4,500 requestsIncludes page posts, comments, and API interactions.

Wink uses a sliding time window to track your API usage per platform:

  1. Each request is timestamped when it’s sent to the platform.
  2. Requests older than 1 hour are automatically cleared from the window.
  3. Before each new request, Wink checks whether the current window has remaining capacity.
  4. If the limit is reached, Wink queues the request and delivers it once capacity is available.

This means you never need to worry about exceeding platform limits or getting your accounts flagged — Wink handles it transparently.

  • Spread your posts. Instead of scheduling many posts at the same time, spread them throughout the day. This looks more natural to the platforms and to your audience.
  • Use the calendar. The Social Calendar helps you visualize your posting schedule and avoid clustering.
  • Monitor analytics. Check your Social Analytics to see how many posts were published and whether any were delayed by rate limiting.
